Freshwater Spotted Sting Ray - Chattanooga Tennessee Aquarium
There's something about a shape called "round." I loved anything polka dotted growing up. In grammar school, I had a polka dotted top I loved and wore it religiously. In high school, swiss dotted curtains shrouded my windows. My mother sewed polka dotted dresses for me.
As an adult, I lounged in a white and purple polka dot covered love seat in a room with curtains to match. I wore a black and white polka dotted blouse in winter, and in summer - a pair of red and white polka dotted capri pants. However, my white and black polka dotted high heel shoes were my all-time fave! My daughter loved those shoes so much she confiscated them out of my closet for college.
When I was learning how to throw pots, my instructor scratched her head and said, "You're a beginner but your pots consistently have a roundness to them. A consistent art style usually doesn't come until much later. You're a round person!"
I must have been programmed that way from birth. Maybe my mother was a "round" person too. What could I say - I was thankful I wasn't a square?
At the Tennessee Aquarium, I fell in love with polka dotted Sting Rays. If I were to choose to be a fish, perhaps it would be one of those magnificent creatures. I learned that if a Sting Ray lost its tail, it could grow a new one every 30 days.
God had a sense of humor!
Then I read this quote by Michele Shea: "Creativity is...seeing something that doesn't exist already. You need to find out how you can bring it into being and that way be a playmate with God."
I'd never thought of that - having God as a playmate. I'd always considered Him the Divine Creator to whom reverence must be shown and Spirit who was to be obeyed or I would be in big trouble!
Now, I'm always going to add on to my prayers,
"God, can you come out and play?"
